New Home Designer

GENERAL FUNCTION:

This person will serve as the Lead Designer for our in-house design function. This position requires helping clients select the new home features that reflect their style, fit in their budget, and also work within the guidelines of our community design specifications.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and update Design Showroom
  • Design Spec Homes
  • Assist with Model Home design and Parade Home staging
  • Attend plan reviews and pre-construction meetings
  • Communicate well with clients throughout the design and build process
  • Communicate effectively with the production team and translate design notes consistently for each job
  • Prepare and attend all design appointments
  • Create and distribute personal selections packets to each pre-sold client
  • Have a clear understanding of the optioning/pricing process
  • Create and maintain interior packages for townhomes, cottages, and single-family homes
  • Manage client scheduling
  • Plan and attend prospect and new client preview nights

PREREQUISITES FOR SUCCESS:

  • Mac OSX computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • able to learn and use application-based software
  • excellent communication skills via phone, email, and in person to clients, trades, and staff
  • 3-5 years of experience in home design or related field
  • complete understanding of color theory and natural eye for color

PREFERENCES FOR THE POSITION:

  • able to create visually appealing documents for clients
  • CID, NCIDQ, or ASID is preferred
  • thorough understanding and memory for pricing and products
  • basic knowledge of American classic architectural styles
  • willingness to work off hours
  • ability to work within company guidelines and processes to • ensure seamless transition from design to production
  • organized
  • detail-oriented

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

REPORTS TO: Product Development
WORKS WITH: Superintendents, Sales and Marketing Staff, Trade Partners and Outside Vendors
