McCall Homes Story

The Unlikely Vision that Became Reality

Our Mission: Empowering people. Building community.

In 1993, Jim McCall left the pool business to become a homebuilder and developer. As his three children grew up and graduated college (civic minded Greg, always curious Brad and quiet but studious Carolee), they joined him one by one. After gaining some experience building homes in a growing subdivision on the west end of Billings, MT, they all felt the driving need to create something unique and meaningful. Quality homes were always a given, but what about a development that was more of a neighborhood, a community where families could grow and truly be involved with their neighbors? Surely there had to be a way to achieve this vision without contributing to the continuing urban sprawl that seemed to be taking over the area. Oh, and it had to be affordable for everyone!

With that, the new mission of McCall Homes gave birth to a one-of-a-kind community called Josephine Crossing. All these decades later, this vision is stronger than ever, as the entire McCall family continues to promote their mission statement each and every day. And, yes, if you’re wondering, each McCall, along with their families, lives in the neighborhood they built.

Meet The McCalls

bradCo-owner Brad McCall works his tail off to help make McCall Homes run like a well-oiled machine—and he wouldn’t want it any other way! His ability to problem solve and think outside the box is what ensures the past and future success of McCall Homes. He is a jack-of-all-trades with a love of flow charts and the latest productivity app. Brad is our building science, energy efficiency expert, and product visionary. Brad wears many hats that are highly valued among the team. He and his wife, Kelsey, can often be seen chasing their three boys down the sidewalks of Josephine Crossing.

Remember how George from the Beatles was the “quiet one”?  That is how co-owner, Carolee (McCall) Smith is perceived by many because when she’s with her brothers, she has a hard time getting a word in edgewise. Her quiet resignation, hides a wealth of knowledge, however. She has as much experience in home building as her brothers and has a great eye for interiors. Her ability to remember paint colors for all the homes she’s designed is almost superhuman! She and her husband Chris are expecting a second child in January!

Greg McCall, co-owner of McCall Homes, is an experienced builder and resident of Josephine Crossing. Among the neighbors, he is commonly referred to as, “The Mayor”. In the office, Greg manages the growing team at McCall Homes and helps Brad and Carolee plan the future of the company. Having grown up in Billings then graduating from the University of Montana, Greg loves being a Montanan and raising his family of four along with his wife, Erin, in the neighborhood they conceived and built.

Erin McCall is our design professional and is best known for her keen sense of style, creativity, and ability to make even the most budget-minded client’s homes look amazing. She (along with Carolee) envisions and designs the McCall Parade Homes and model homes. There you can see her clever sense of mixing old and new and using color to connect all the spaces throughout the home. Erin also creates the color palates for our townhomes and spec homes. Her career started as a 6th grade teacher, but now she raises four children and remains active at their school while working part-time in the office.
