McCall Homes Story

The Unlikely Vision that Became Reality

Our Mission: Empower people. Build community.

In 1993, Jim McCall left the pool business to become a home builder and developer. After his three children—civic-minded Greg, ever-curious Brad and erudite Carolee—grew up and graduated college, they joined him one by one. After gaining some experience building homes in a growing subdivision on the west end of Billings, MT, the McCalls all felt a driving need to create something meaningful and unique. Quality homes were always a given, but what about a development designed to be not just a neighborhood, but a community where families could grow and truly be involved with their neighbors?

Surely there had to be a way to achieve this vision without contributing to the continuing urban sprawl taking over the area. What’s more, it had to be affordable for everyone!

With that, the new mission of McCall Homes gave way to a one-of-a-kind community called Josephine Crossing. Decades later, this vision is stronger than ever, as the McCall family continues to promote their mission statement each and every day in their newest community, Annafeld. And, yes, if you’re wondering, each McCall, along with their families, lives in the neighborhoods they built.

Meet The McCalls

bradCo-owner Brad McCall works his tail off to help make McCall Homes run like a well-oiled machine—and he wouldn’t want it any other way! His problem-solving abilities and outside-the-box thinking are what ensure the past, present, and future success of McCall Homes. He is a jack-of-all-trades with an affinity for innovation, from flow charts to the latest productivity app. Brad is the company expert in building science, energy efficiency, and product development. Brad wears many hats, but never sacrifices quality for quantity; each of his roles carries value in relation to the rest of the team. When Brad isn’t working, he and his wife, Kelsey, can often be seen chasing their three rambunctious boys down the sidewalks of Josephine Crossing.

Remember how George from the Beatles was the “quiet one”?  Carolee (McCall) Smith, co-owner of McCall Homes, is perceived and admired by many in the same way. When with her brothers, she has a hard time getting a word in edgewise. Her quiet resignation, however, hides a vast wealth of knowledge. Carolee has just as much experience in home building as her brothers, a naturally astute eye for interiors, and a memory as sharp as a tack. Her ability to remember paint colors for all the homes she’s designed is almost superhuman! But that’s not her only superpower: She’s a mom of three adorable kids, whom she raises with her helpful husband Chris.

Greg McCall, co-owner of McCall Homes, is an experienced builder and long-time resident of Josephine Crossing. Among the neighbors, he is commonly referred to as, “The Mayor”. In the office, Greg manages the growing team at McCall Homes and helps Brad and Carolee plan the future of the company. Having grown up in Billings then graduated from the University of Montana, Greg is proud of his home state. As much as he loves being a Montanan, he adores raising his family of four along with his wife, Erin, in the neighborhood they conceived and built.
